On behalf of members, NZACS has endeavoured to build a constructive two-way engagement process with the Ministry of Health over issues affecting the retail sector. More recently this included submissions and correspondence around the issue of retail display bans of tobacco products. The Ministry’s response can best be described as civil and essentially a tick the box exercise on their part to “be seen” to be consulting. We have asked under the Official Information Act how much the Ministry spends on tobacco control and received the following details. We thought you would be interested in seeing where some of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars are going!
