NZACS

The results are in!

After two years, NZACS finally held our PJ Scholarship speech competition and Annual Industry Awards night at the Hilton on Auckland’s Princes Wharf.

Over 100 members came along in the afternoon to support and judge the finalists in the PJ Scholarship. We had 9 fantastic entries this year, with pre-judging reducing the finalists to 6.

The competition question for 2022 was:

You have been given a project involving category, marketing, and operations.
Your task is to take any existing category in convenience other than fuel or tobacco and re-invent or revolutionise it.
Present your proposal summarising your plan.
What is the big idea? What insights have led you to this? What is different? How will it look? How will you justify the return on the capital or expense required?

All finalists prepared and presented well-researched and innovative concepts which were judged by attending companies to select the winner and runner-up.

Fernand Dignadice from Frucor was runner-up, and Kathlyn Lee from BP was our winner this year. They both won a trip to Las Vegas to attend the NACS Industry Trade Show in October.

NZACS Annual Awards

Our annual awards were held later in the evening, with Ben Hurley as our guest MC. It’s been an extremely challenging couple of years for our suppliers and retailers, and our intention was to celebrate being back together, and recognise excellence within the industry.

Ben managed to create a relaxed and humorous atmosphere. It was our largest turnout in years with almost 130 members, and was pleasing to see everyone enjoy the opportunity to network together.
