Latest industry news from NZACS
It’s been a busy first quarter for NZACs with the annual golf tournament raising over $4,000 to support our Peter Jowett scholars study tour. We have launched membership for this year, received record entries for the PJ scholarship, locked in awards night and continued government communications and lobbying on retailer’s behalf to try and walk back, delay, or repeal the smokefree amendments.
In addition to this we have collaborated with AACS to allow NZACS members access to the Convenience study tour in Melbourne and will shortly be launching the retail academy in conjunction with Hexus Quadrant Group. More information on the training academy will be coming soon.

NZACS Management Committee Change
Tracey Fookes
After a stellar career with Tip Top, Tracey Fookes will be leaving to join Henkel as a National Accounts Manager. Tracey has been a very engaged board member and is one of the hardest working professionals in the convenience channel. We will miss her energy and enthusiasm and wish her all the best in her new role.
Phil Gleeson
We look forward to working with Phil Gleeson – Head of Sales for Tip Top who will be replacing Tracey. Phil has recently relocated from Melbourne where he was head of sales for Peters Ice Cream for the last 6 years.

Smokefree Aotearoa Update
I wrote this week to key National party and ACT politicians urging them to re-open proposed smokefree amendments, specifically the retail reduction and Very Low Nicotine plans should they be successful in this year’s election.
The email was sent to Christopher Luxon, Dr Shane Reti, Chris Bishop, Mark Michell (National), David Seymour (ACT).
“An election issue affecting thousands of New Zealanders flying under the radar”.
